FEATURED: LISA ERYN SILVERMAN OF THESE FINE WALLS IN HAMPTONS MAGAZINE

In celebration of our 10th Anniversary, we want to take a moment to thank Hamptons Magazine for featuring our founder Lisa Eryn Silverman and a backstory behind These Fine Walls.

The Idea That Became These Fine Walls

Lisa Eryn Silverman, a Sagaponack resident and former photo-shoot producer for Michael Kors, has always been passionate about photography. While working behind the scenes, she noticed a recurring frustration: many incredible photographs captured by top photographers were never available for purchase or exhibition. These images, though featured in magazines like Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar, often remained hidden in the archives of photographers’ portfolios. Determined to offer a platform for these often-overlooked works, Silverman created These Fine Walls—an innovative online marketplace dedicated to selling never-before-seen pieces by editorial photographers.

A Curated Collection of Talented Photographers

These Fine Walls highlights the work of both established and emerging photographers. The site boasts a curated selection from up and coming photographers such as Dina Broadhurst, an Australian artist known for her mixed media pieces that highlight femininity, sexuality, and luxury, and Jamie Nelson, a New York City-based artist whose colorfully haunting images captivate and surprise. Silverman also includes her own creations, which combine iconic fashion brands like Chanel, Prada, and Hermès with digitally altered imagery, creating a fusion of art and commerce.

In addition to her own work, Silverman collaborated with James Wojcik, a former teacher of hers and a renowned still-life photographer. Together, they crafted a series of images exclusively for These Fine Walls, adding a new dimension to the platform’s offerings. Each piece is available in a variety of sizes, with prices ranging from $150 to $3,500, making it accessible to a wider audience while still reflecting the high-quality standards of fine art photography.

Fashion Photography as Art

Silverman’s vision for These Fine Walls goes beyond showcasing high-end fashion photography; she sees it as an opportunity to present fashion photography as fine art. As she explains, when experienced outside of the context of a magazine page or billboard, these images transcend their commercial purpose. They become something more meaningful, timeless, and intimate. Silverman describes this transformation, noting that fashion photography, once hidden in plain sight, becomes a valuable form of art when given the proper space and recognition. For her, experiencing a photograph in this new light is akin to the serenity found in the Hamptons—peaceful, beautiful, and truly transformative.

The Hamptons: Inspiration and Relaxation

Silverman is deeply connected to the Hamptons, a place that serves as both a personal refuge and an artistic inspiration. Living in Sagaponack, she enjoys the tranquility and serene scenery of the East End, which offers an escape from the hustle of New York City. The Hamptons’ blend of natural beauty, culture, and luxury plays a significant role in Silverman’s creative process. She finds comfort in the local ambiance—whether relaxing at her family’s home or dining at Tutto il Giorno in Sag Harbor, a personal favorite. Despite its peaceful atmosphere, the Hamptons is also home to a vibrant cultural scene, and Silverman regularly seeks out fresh talent to add to her growing collection on These Fine Walls.

A Platform for Discovering New Talent

Though These Fine Walls currently features a select group of established photographers, Silverman is always on the lookout for new voices in photography. She’s dedicated to expanding the platform, especially as it gains recognition. This summer marks the first since the launch of the site, and Silverman’s commitment to discovering fresh talent continues as she looks to further grow the site’s portfolio. With the Hamptons’ dynamic mix of culture and creativity, Silverman is poised to uncover the next great photographers and continue elevating their work.

These Fine Walls offers a unique opportunity to purchase high-quality, thought-provoking art that was once confined to the pages of magazines. By giving these works a platform, Silverman is redefining the way we view fashion photography—transforming it from fleeting commercial imagery into lasting, valuable pieces of art.
